Our Book Shipping Process



Printing Services for Self-Publishers

MAP of SHIPPING TIME for UPS GROUND SERVICE:

Once you have completed the Author/Publisher Session, and we have the approval of your manuscript by you, the Author, then your material will be transmitted to our printer. It takes the printing company 2 business days to print the book. At the end of the second day of printing, the books will be shipped to Griot Publishing for review before distributing them to you if you live in the Phoenix area. If you do not live in Phoenix, your books will be shipped directly to your doorstep. 


This map is for drop shipment orders to other parts of the state. If you are in the Phoenix area, all shipment orders will come directly to the GP office for review. Drop shipment orders can be used if you want to ship a large quantity to an address that is different from yours. You may also use the "drop shipment" method on re-occurring orders. We are confident that after we have approved the first shipment that each shipment thereafter will be satisfactory because your book is stored on a template and cannot be changed unless we at GP make any changes. You will be notified of any changes made to your book (if any).  Please contact us for all shipment questions.  


The "2 DAY" clock starts ticking when you APPROVE YOUR MANUSCRIPT. We count regular business days (no weekends, no holidays), and each day's cut-off is 12:00 pm EST. Any approvals after12:00 pm EST will be counted as the following day.


Example: If you OK your proof Monday at 11:45 pm EST, your books will ship Wednesday. But if you wait 20 minutes longer and don't OK your proof until 12:05 pm EST on Monday, the approval will be counted as Tuesday, so your books won't ship until Thursday. 


Perfect Bound book production will adhere to the the schedule above. Hard cover and Coil Binding take a little longer. They have a 5-day PRODUCTION TIME. And you'll still need to add SHIPPING TIME to that. For example, if you OK your hard cover or coil bound books on Monday, Your books will ship on the following Monday. See the map above for your shipping time. Expedited shipping (Next Day Air, 2nd Day Air) is also available.

If your tracking information says that the Book(s) was/were delivered but you cannot locate it, we can file a lost/stolen claim. However, before we initiate the claim please make sure you do the following to see if you can locate your book:  


1.  See if someone else accepted delivery. Check with household members, neighbors, building managers, the mail room, front desk, and anyone else who may have accepted the delivery.  


2.  Look around the delivery location. Carriers sometimes leave packages in a safe, hidden place like on a side porch, in/around your garage, or behind bushes.  


3.  Check your mailbox. Smaller items or items in soft packages are likely to be delivered there.  


4.  Check for a parcel locker key. If your mailbox is in a cluster box unit (i.e., several mail boxes clustered together) or your package is addressed to a P.O. Box, check your box for a key to a parcel locker where the package may have been delivered.  


5.  Check for a mail hold. If the U.S. Postal Service is holding your mail, your package won't be delivered. 


6.  Look for a notice of attempted delivery. You may find an attempted delivery notice in your mailbox or P.O. Box or on your door. Follow the instructions on that notice to request redelivery or pick up the package.   


7.  Contact the carrier. Ask if they have additional information about the package's location. (Have your tracking or delivery confirmation number handy.) If you package was shipped via UPS, they may be able to hold the package at their local hub for you to pick up. You can call UPS and see if this is possible.  If none of these options help you locate your package then we will flag it as a Lost/Stolen shipment. The estimated delivery date (EDD) is a conservative estimate for when you will receive your order. If your order has not arrived by the estimated delivery date, please CONTACT US and we'll look further into the order.

Once your book has been printed and prepared for shipping, you will receive what we call an "ADVANCE SHIPMENT NOTICE".  This notice is to alert you that your books have been shipped, and that you should be on the look out for them. Also in this notice, you will find your tracking number.

Blind shipping is available, and we don't charge extra for it either. The term "Blind  Shipment" is when one or more parties to a shipment don't know who is the shipper, receiver, or both. In other words, they are in “The Blind”.

Book Preparation

In order to ship blind, the shipment must be prepaid and Blind Shipment service requested prior to the freight pickup. Blind shipments are sent in plain brown boxes, without our name appearing anywhere. Your name is listed as the shipper.

 Are you in the Military? We ship to APO, FPO & DPO addresses. Please follow these guidelines to ensure that your APO/FPO delivery can be completed.
UPSP is the only shipping method that will deliver to a military post office. Do not use UPS.

*Make sure to use the FIRST and LAST name of the individual that is stationed at the military installation.

*For address use the the Unit or Outfit number.


*You MUST select United States for the country


For the state select AE (Middle East/Africa), AA(America), or AP(Pacific)

For the city, use FPO, APO or DPO


Also note that our shipping times only account for the time it takes to reach the FPO. It does not include the time it takes for the FPO to deliver it to whatever military base it is being shipped to. Once the package reaches the APO/FPO, it could take an additional 7-20 days for the APO/FPO to finalize the delivery. 2 weeks is typical. 


Any errors in filling out the form may result in lost or delayed shipments. Shipments that are not filled out properly may take up to 30 days to be returned from the APO, FPO or DPO address. Any issues with shipping from this office, contact us @ (888) 600-2011.

You may change your Shipping address up to 24 hours before the shipping date. If you decide to change it after that, we will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot promise that we can catch your shipment in time.  We can also do a "split shipment" if you are delivering your books to two different locations.  Contact us via our email form or call (888) 600.2011. Remember to have you ID Code ready for all correspondences.  


We ONLY ship to USA and Canada. 


We have been in the publishing business since 2007, and with our international shipping experience, we regretfully admit that a shipment to other countries can be difficult. 


Well, for one, it is very hard to track a shipment, the shipping cost is very expensive, and we have a huge issue trying to guarantee shipments by a certain date due to customs. For these reasons and of those which are not named, we removed the international shipping option from our menu. 


If you need your books shipped to a different country, you can arrange for a carrier such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, Post Office etc. to pick up your shipment from our Arizona office. The shipment arrangements would be completely made by you.  This means that we will not have any tracking information on your book shipment once your assigned carrier picks up the shipment.  We are not responsible for lost or delayed shipments. Contact the carrier of your choice and ask them for more details on shipping your package out of the U.S.


Yes, we can split ship your order of Books over the quantity of 25. For instance, suppose you order 25 books, but want 15 to go to Chicago and the rest to go to Missouri. No problem. Just let us know exactly how many go to each address, and we'll take care of the rest. Since you'll have multiple "ship to" addresses, your shipping cost may be a little higher. We estimate that you will receive your published books 4 to 7 business days AFTER you signoff on your pdf/manuscript. Please wait the full 7 business days to report any shipments that have not arrived.
