Start with your idea — no matter how big or small. From there, jot down an outline or a few key points you'd like to include. If you're not sure how to organize your thoughts or move forward, we offer book coaching sessions to help guide you from concept to manuscript. You don't have to figure it all out alone — we meet you where you are.

It depends on your starting point. If you’re submitting a completed and formatted manuscript, production moves quickly — typically within 2–3 business days after proof approval. If you need editing or formatting, that timeline varies depending on how much work your manuscript needs. We’ll walk you through your options and help you choose the timeline that fits your goals. A printed proof copy is available upon request (recommended for complex or image-heavy books).

Costs vary based on page count, color vs. black & white images, and how many books you want printed. We offer a wide range of packages for self-publishing, editing, and design. Unlike many print-on-demand platforms, we don’t take royalties — and we believe in full transparency. To get an accurate estimate, request a custom quote.

By default, your book is protected by copyright as soon as it’s written and fixed in a tangible form. However, for stronger legal protection, we recommend officially registering your copyright with the U.S. Copyright Office. We can help guide you through that process. We also teach low-cost methods for documenting your work, like the "sealed manuscript" method — but this is not a replacement for formal registration.

We respect author freedom, but we also protect the Griot Publishing brand. We do not accept manuscripts that promote violence against children, hate speech, explicit violence, or any offensive or harmful content. We also do not accept manuscripts that are not your original work. Your submission must be fully owned and copyrighted by you. If you're unsure whether your content aligns with our guidelines, feel free to send it in for a free content evaluation.

Once published, your book will remain on our website and affiliated platforms for as long as you choose. If you ever want it removed, simply submit a written request — no questions asked.

As many times as you’d like. If you need to make changes to the interior or cover, the book must be re-submitted and treated as a new edition. Keep in mind: if your book has an ISBN, it’s permanently linked to that version. Major changes may require a new ISBN.

To make your book bookstore-ready, you’ll need a few key identifiers: an ISBN, an EAN barcode, and in many cases, a Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN). We’ll help you obtain each one, and we also offer distribution tips and guidance to help get your book on shelves.
