✨ With Griot Publishing, your ISBN is handled quickly, affordably, and with full support, so you can focus on your writing while we take care of the details.
📖 ISBN (International Standard Book Number)
The ISBN is a 13-digit number that uniquely identifies books and book-like products published internationally. Every edition of a book requires its own ISBN, ensuring it is recognized and cataloged across bookstores, libraries, distributors, and online platforms.
Why the ISBN Matters
Global Recognition – Makes your book identifiable worldwide.
Distribution – Required by retailers, wholesalers, and online sellers.
Cataloging – Used by libraries, universities, and archives for easy tracking.
Professionalism – Establishes your book as an official, market-ready publication.
How ISBNs Work
Each ISBN is 13 digits, printed with the prefix “ISBN.”
The number is divided into four parts:
Group or country identifier – identifies a national or geographic grouping of publishers.
Publisher identifier – identifies a specific publisher.
Title identifier – identifies a particular title or edition.
Check digit – validates the ISBN.
Example format: ISBN 978-1-234-56789-0
Important Notes
ISBNs cannot be resold or transferred.
If you leave Griot Publishing, the ISBN assigned under GP will remain attached to that edition of your book.
Obtaining a Griot ISBN does not give us ownership or copyright of your work—it simply identifies the publisher.
