We are providing a safe way for you to sign your contract. If you do not provide consent for electronic delivery of your Book Publishing Contract, you may still use the email process to sign it. If you provide consent for electronic delivery of your Book Publishing Contract, you may revoke this consent at any time by canceling it, but please note that there is a cancellation fee.
Publisher/Writer's contracts are put in place to help both parties to have a clear understanding about what is expected between the two. We try to make our contracts as simple as possible, but if for any reason you still don't understand it, please feel free to either contact us or an Attorney to go over this contract. You are not obligated to stay in this contract if you choose not to, but please note that there is a cancellation fee ($100.00 For eBook contract cancellation and $300 for book publishing contract cancellation) if cancelled after the closing business day of your initial signature. This is because we have one of the fastest turn-around times in the business, and as soon as we receive your manuscript and required down payment, we will began working on it right away to prepare it for the printer. For this reason, please review the contract carefully to be sure that you agree to all of the terms.
You are not locked into this contract and you may cancel at anytime, but still be mindful of the cancellation fee. Once your book is published, there is no cancellation fee for the services that have been rendered. Our goal at Griot Publishing is to help you put your writings into print at an affordable cost so that you receive the highest royalty amount that is owed to you. After all, you are the creator of your book.
The Essential Contract Checklist is a list of questions you MUST answer in order to keep your work safe. If you cannot answer them, find someone who can answer them for you!

Educate yourself and feel free to ask questions regarding our contract and services. We are transparent and are willing to answer any questions you may have before getting started, during the process, and after publishing. You will meet with a Publisher Assistant or PA before completing your contract, and you may ask your questions during the free 10 minute consultation.
This should be your first question. Your publishing contract must list the rights your publisher is acquiring specifically, and there must be a statement in the contract that all other rights not mentioned in this contract are held by the author. If you do not see this statement there, ask us to point it out to you.
We do not own your story PERIOD! All we want is the right to use your publication on our Web Property and company-based advertisement for one year. After that, you may request to remove your book and likeness from our database altogether. We will take good care in promoting the right image of your book.
Things happen that may cause you to terminate your project. You may cancel your contractual agreement at any time, but please note that there is a cancellation fee required to cancel the publishing contract.
Any content that you submit for manuscript inclusion is your intellectual property. We will not stop you from using your characters and world in other stories or books, even after you have left our Publishing House. Once the publishing agreement is ended, all characters are your property, they are not owned in any way by the Griot Publishing House.
Of course not! If you decide that you no longer want or need for Griot Publishing House to publish the remaining books in your series, there is no red tape in doing so. The only issue you may have is the GPH identifiers that are located in the published book. It is highly recommended that you do your research until you are comfortable with the chosen publisher to complete the series.
If you are playing on enrolling your published book in our Consignment program, your royalty payment depends on the retail and/or cost of your book. Just for the record, we will never expect more royalties from your book sales than you expect. It is your work and you should always receive the highest book sales.
Remember that if we withhold a percentage for ‘returns’, that is subtracted from the percentage that you get for each sale.
Your publishing contract states that all rights revert back to you, but since you own your own rights, this would not really apply.
Educate yourself and protect your rights and your work!
